Early-stage companies are small enough that every decision has a face on it, and it’s usually the founders.

It makes it easy to second guess yourself because every move you make could change a relationship or damage morale.  Sometimes, the hesitation comes because it’s embarrassing to have to change course from a direction you yourself set 6 months ago.

This is where momentum quietly dies in startups.

One move that helps: write the decision down as if it was anonymous. As if a stranger came in and gave an honest assessment without any emotional attachments, history or shame.  Read it and notice your gut reaction.

If anonymity makes the choice clear, then decide how long you want to keep living with what you already know.
